How to get there: The monument is exclusively accessible by ferry. You have two departure options:

  • From Battery Park, New York City: If you’re in Manhattan, head to Battery Park, the primary departure point for ferries to Liberty Island. The nearest subway stops include the 4 and 5 trains at Bowling Green, the R train at Whitehall Street, and the 1 train at the South Ferry station.
  • From Liberty State Park, New Jersey: Alternatively, you can reach Liberty Island via ferries departing from Liberty State Park in New Jersey. This option is convenient for visitors coming from New Jersey.

Wheelchair Access: The Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island are accessible for wheelchairs. The ferries that transport visitors to the island also have facilities for accommodating wheelchairs.
